Drinking, that’s how to get over your ex girlfriend.

Really. Several months ago, when my girlfriend Jen and I broke up I was heartbroken. We had been together for almost six months and out of the blue she left. Said she was bored. For weeks I moped around, I was a mess, unshaven, and apparently in need of a shower as people continually avoided me on the train.

I needed to move on, to find another chick, so my buddies and I went drinking. We went to the corner bar, the preppy white collar bar when everyone listened to music but no one dance, the karaoke disco filled with tune deaf college students practicing for the big shot on that famous TV show, which of course none of them would ever be on, and we went to every bar we could find, every night.

Whiskey, beer, vodka it didn’t matter. As the days slurred together, I began to forget Jen and focused instead on my new best friend, Jack Daniels. As the friendship between Jack and I grew, so did our love of fun and excitement.

Even though it was a pretty crude method, I think how to get over your ex girlfriend is less important than the fact you do get over her in the first place. In my case I wasn’t unhappy anymore about Jen, and soon enough I met a new girl, this awesome chick who had become great friends with Jack as well on account of her “Jen”.
